Using your file browser, open the Programs folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla and Firefox folders by adding .old to them.

Now run the full installer.

Same result. The start up graphic spins for a moment and quits. Firefox used to work/has always worked. Whether a combination of OS updates and program updates has rendered the browser useless, I don't know. I've drilled as deep into program files to delete every thing I can locate that are Mozilla/Firefox related so as to start from scratch, without any success.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift (Mac Options) > key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

  • Do you have a lock file in the profile folder, this is in the Program Files Folder that wad delete before that Fred mentioned.
  • If you run the profile manager and try to open Firefox from a cmd.exe window, what happens?

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p

  • Do you have any antivirus that may be blocking Firefox?
