after installing the latest FF update my system was virtually crippled, it ran at less than half speed, even the cursor was stuttering

I'm running the most recent FF on a brand new HP notebook with W7pro. Once I did the installation it was so slow as to be almost useless, but a system restore solved that. Even the little spinny bit signifying connection was slow, the cursor took seconds to move and then jerked across the screen, and every program barely ran, some didn't at all.
