When I try to load Mozilla Firefox, the website does not load. I have tried (in order) uninstalling and reinstalling Mozilla, downgrading to Mozilla 6, tried to confirm plug ins but the Mozilla website took forever to find my plugins. Then I tried to reset disable some of my plug ins. Then I did a factory reset of Mozilla Firefox. I don't know what else to do, please help.

Hi thank you for all who have helped me with this problem. I did a system restore on my computer and when I rebooted the computer, Firefox started perfectly. I am so happy for this because I need this for a job.

hey,i think this may help you..go to start->all programs->hold the shift key and click mozilla firefox->pop up window pops out->click reset firefox...this may be due to overstorage of cache or internal crashing of firefox..hope this helps you..

Thanks but it didn't help. Maybe its something with the registry

Could you describe this problem in a little more detail: When you start Firefox, do you get the window frame and the built-in home page, or a blank page, or you don't even get the window frame showing up? If you get the home page, what happens next when you try to load any page or do a search?

Can you recall making any changes just before this happened, such as installing some new software or updating Firefox?

Depending on your security software, this article might be relevant: Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox.

Thank you jscher2000, well when I open Mozilla Firefox, I get the frame. The home page page comes up, when I type in a web address and press enter, it says connecting and then stops.. It stays on the home page.

No I have not made any changes, installed anything or updated Firefox.

Thanks

Hmm, usually if Firefox can't load a page it will show an error page. Is there a similar "silent fail" if you use a bookmark or use one of the search boxes?

Yes there is

I'm not sure from the earlier discussion in this thread, but have you tried starting Firefox in its Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Can you access any sites in Safe Mode?

Could you also check these things:

(1) In case the problem is connection settings, try making this change in Firefox:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network mini-tab > "Settings" button

Change to "No proxy" and see whether that makes any difference.

(2) In case it's a firewall issue, please see: Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.

(3) In case it's a malware problem, you could download some of the tools listed in our support article onto a USB flash drive using your laptop: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
