I am on a MacBookPro running MacOS 15.5.

My FireFox automatically updated to 139.0.4 on June 10th. Since then, my ability to access the internet with FireFox only has been intermittent - I can connect for a variable number seconds and then it disconnects for minutes or hours. I have no problems connecting to the internet with Chrome or Safari, or with other applications. My perusal of the forums leads me to believe that it is the latest update that is causing the problems.

Has anyone experienced this problem and/or does anyone have a fix? Thanks in advance.

You're not the only one seeing this. Firefox 139.0.4 seems to have introduced some networking bugs on macOS 15.5.

A few users fixed it by creating a new Firefox profile or disabling DNS over HTTPS in settings. Worth a shot while waiting for a patch

Thanks for the quick reply!

I will try [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/fix-problems-connecting-websites-aft...] this then, if that doesn't work, wait for the patch.

Update: It didn't work. I will wait for the patch. Thanks Liam.

I’m seeing the same thing after the 139.0.4 update, also on macOS. Firefox keeps losing connection while everything else works fine.

A couple of things you can try:

Turn off DNS over HTTPS – Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > scroll down to "DNS over HTTPS" and turn it off. Some users have seen improvement after this.

Create a new Firefox profile – Corrupted profiles can sometimes cause weird connection issues. You can test this by typing about:profiles in the address bar and creating a new one.

Try running in Troubleshoot Mode – Click the menu > Help > Troubleshoot Mode. This disables extensions and custom settings to rule out conflicts.

If none of that helps, you might want to roll back to an earlier version until Mozilla patches the issue.
