Gmail 2 step login on Firefox NOT IE

It used to be that my Gmail sign-in screen had blanks for both email and password on the same page. Now it's in 2 steps. According to a post at: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1062017#question-reply by user Sanket Kumar Mali; "Actually it is not a problem. It is a new g-mail Login system by Google and its doesn't depend on browser. " However, I do not find that to be true. I am running Windows 7 Professional with Internet Explorer 11.039600.17843 and Firefox 38.0.5 installed as the default browser. The 2 step login to gmail process only happens in the Firefox browser, not Internet Explorer. So, is there a way to turn it off in Firefox?

HiWakDaddy, Get an application specific password in your Google Account settings and use it in Firefox. However in webmail I do not think that this is entirely possible unless you check "remember this computer"- though I am not an expert in this anymore.
