I did a routine update a day or two ago. Since then I can no longer attach files to emails. Has a setting changed? If so, can you let me know how I can restore this function? Many thanks, Mark N

Hello, after installing Thunderbird version 153.4.0esr, I'm experiencing the following issue: When I create a new message and try to attach a file, it doesn't work. I click the “Attach File” icon, but nothing happens. How can I resolve this problem? Thank you

As of the latest update, the attachment toolbar button in a new mail window does....nothing. Nada. Click it, nothing. I have to drag the attachments from (say) Desktop to the new message window. Works, but...so should the toolbar buttons, which used to.

Tried turning off all addons (i.e., troubleshooting mode) - made no difference.

I use to be able to send photo's but not anymore. I have looked thru all the suggestions but can't find the answer. I am assuming that one needs to use file link, but if I choose the file link the recipient either doesn't get the email or deletes it because they now don't recognize the sender. If I ignore the file link option the recipient doesn't get the photo just the email body. What has changed in Thunderbird. I use Runbox for my main email and Gmail as alternative.

I cannot use the attach button to attach files to outgoing emails. Alt+Shift+A does not respond either. I am running Thunderbird from the "Thunderbird Setup 157.0.1" installer. I am able to drag and drop but that method is rather unwieldy. I recently upgraded Windows 11 to version 26H2.157.

Seit kurzen kann ich beim senden einer Nachricht keinen Anhang mehr hinzufügen, es öffnet sich kein Auswahlfenster mehr, was am 8.09.26 das letzte mal noch funktionierte. Weder über die Büroklammer, noch übers Menü Datei-Anhängen-Datei(en). Es passiert einfach Nichts.

In der Update-Chronik sehe ich am 19.09.26 ein Update auf 153.1.1esr !? Habe deshalb das neueste Update 153.4.0esr heruntergeladen und installiert, aber ohne Erfolg.

Hat jemand ne Idee? Ausgerechnet jetzt wo ich in den nächsten Tagen die Funktion dringend bräuchte...

A few days ago someone sent me an email with a .png file attached. Normally .png files open in something called Microsoft Photos but I accidentally selected to view it in PhotoPad, rather than in Photos. Now, every time someone sends me a .png attachment, Thunderbird always opens it in PhotoPad.

Is there somewhere where I can correct this so that in future, they'll go back to opening in Photos?

I set the app to open .jpg images as mspaint.exe and now every time I try to open a jpg I get an error message from mspaint saying "unable to create new document".

In the settings there's a list of attachments with options, but I can't find one for jpg images. How can I change the setting?

As a twelve or more years user of Thunderbird, I find it to be okay most of the time. I hate the spam folder that does not learn and I hate threads.

Today all of a sudden, I cannot save photos sent from my iPhone as jpg. I have always right clicked and a menu has appeared. Today, the right click just zooms in which I never want to do when I am trying to save.

I tried searchig online first before coming here. Apple is claiming that Thunderbird developers made a mistake and that is why the right click is not working. AI had me try a bunch of different techniques none of which worked.

When I do save after much effort, the "photo" in my Animals folder appears as the Thunderbird logo instead of the real item itself. The other weird thing is that my folders also do NOT show up where they should when I am trying to save. The menu doesn't give me all the folders as it always has. Instead it just say All Files which is not adequate.
