Hi,

I’m looking into using Firefox as an alternative browser in our work environment and wanted to check whether it is suitable for regular business use.

Are there any known limitations, security concerns, or recommendations we should be aware of when using Firefox in a corporate environment? We mainly use web-based internal systems, so stability, security, compatibility, and centralized management are important for us.

Also, do you recommend Firefox ESR for business environments, or is the standard Firefox release normally sufficient?

I get the window shown in the attached image when I launch Firefox now that I have updated from the ESR 140 versions to the ESR 153 versions.

If I click OK, it takes me into Firefox but it appears that the settings in my auto config are not being set suggesting that the configuration file that cannot be read is the firefox.cfg file that the instructions for auto configure (https://mzl.la/3pb4w0I) tell one to create with all the settings. It appears that the autoconfig.js file that is in "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref" is being read correctly as the two settings show properly in about:config.

I have set the specs on autoconfig.js to have be:

• end of line as LF and not the Windows/DOS standard of CRLF,
• the text encoded in UTF-8, and
• I have tried with BOM and non-BOM.

I have also tried these specs on the firefox.cfg file even though the the auto configure instructions do not say what specs to use on that file.

As I mentioned, things worked fine while I was using Firefox ESR 140.x, where x could be completion of any of the valid version numbers. Now that I have upgraded to Firefox ESR 153.x, this problem seems to have surfaced.

From the auto configure instructions, firefox.cfg is to be placed in "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox", however, in doing a web search, I came across and article on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/2023fix-firefox-failed-read-configuration-file-error-andrew-m) from about three years ago that indicates firefox.cfg is to be in the same directory as autoconfig.js. Given it worked as described in the auto configure instructions before ESR 153, I figured this was wrong but tested it anyway by moving the firefox.cfg file. It changed nothing.

This is a problem for all my users on each of their individual domain accounts. I have tested and it makes no difference whether I'm running it on a Win10 or a Win11 computer.

I am using auto config for those settings that cannot be changed through Group Policy.

The operating system on my iMac is still the same version as when I bought it about 10 years ago: macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.6. Since I recently downloaded the latest version of Firefox, left mouse clicks no longer work in Substack pages. How can I download and install a version of Firefox that will go back to working for me the way it used to? I'd rather not update to a later version of the macOS operating system. I suppose I can if I absolutely have to, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that either.

UBS Digital Banking is asking me to update my Firefox browser (140.15 Oesr), even though it is up to date according to the information on the Firefox support page. This version is no longer compatible with UBS’s technical requirements. What are my options if I wish to continue using Firefox rather than another browser? Thank you Luc

I have a MBP running OS Sierra (10.12.6).

I've exported all my bookmarks & Passwords ready to import them later.

I've downloaded the extended 115.40 version of Firefox. I've deleted the 'old' versin of Firefox and opened the esr and I see the bookmarks are still there... so what did I do wrong?

I'm still getting the 'This browser version is no longer supported' Error

I AM USING A samsung SMT-810 tablet which is beyond Samsung EOL for OS updates, more and mor apps update and then stop working, What version of firefox should I be running for best compatibility or are there other solutions?

I'm running mac os 10.13.6 and have installed Firefox 118.38 ERS but some websites are not allowing me to proceed due to my system being outdated/unsupported, what can I do about it? Cheers in advance for any pointers.

Did a refresh lc on desktop. Lost all browers - they are not hiding, gone. No cmd prompt work, cannot install. Need to use external device w usb to be ablw to download a browser on desktop that only has Wibdows 8.1, so Firefox 115

Hello! I'm on Debian, and there Firefox ESR is the default browser, it is now basically unusable as it is so out of date that Cloudflare Turnstile no longer works.

This is a major problem.

Up until version 141, the difference between 32 bit and 64 bit Firefox installers wasn't noteworthy, though it has clearly been slowly increasing overtime. However, starting from version 141, the difference between them doubled from 5MB to 10MB, meaning a nearly 13.5% larger installer for the 64bit version than the 32bit one.

Why is that? What happened? Are there are feature differences that would warranty such a large gulf in their installer sizes? It's the AI isn't it? 32bit users were spared the bloat of the AI.

I also see that starting from 115.16 Firefox suggests users that aren't on Windows 7-8.1 or MacOS 10.12-10.14 should use other versions. Given both x86 and Windows' immense reputation surrounding backwards compatibility, is this really a concern? Is there REALLY something supported by Windows 7-8.1 that wouldn't function on 10?
