Is your email address hosted by hostgator? Just a guess, but something seems to be there that has a link to hostgator.

NO HG email and NO Hostgator connection in over 10 years. Hence the suspicion. I need to know specificaly where Thunderbird is getting this info so it can be Obliterated.

Well I would start by looking in the account settings for an address that was hosted by hostgator, As Thunderbird has not such thing as a "retired" account anything in account settings related to that provider could and probably will trigger a connection attempt.

Next I would check the address books for address books that may be hosted remotely. LDAP in particular. then it is on to calendars and any that may also be hosted remotely. perhaps associated wih a long gone email address.

Computer 1 has this login pop-up issue.

computer 1' "Composition and Addressing" is using "global LDAP"

computer 2 is using "Composition and Addressing" is using "global LDAP"

and does not have this pop-up issue.

Hello there

The places where this info is stored are:

Saved passwords hidden. Outgoing Server (SMTP) Config Editor (about:config)

Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Saved Passwords in Thunderbird. Search for "hostgator" and remove all saved login credentials or tokens associated with it.

If I may make a quick suggestion: I didn't intend to interrupt your conversation.
