when Thunderbird starts the multicolour wheel of death appears and all is locked ??
2 months ago, after an update the programme opens then locks with the cursor being a multicolor rotating wheel. All is locked and the only option is to 'Force Quit" to close the programme down. Can you help ? thank you

I guess that you are a Mac user but I ignore which version of macOS and which Thunderbird version you are running. First diagnostic test to perform is starting Thunderbird in 'troubleshoot mode': hold down the Alt (Option) key while launching Thunderbird from its Dock icon. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-mode-thunderbird If the program still gets unresponsive we'll do another test....
