The black boxes on the sides of my screen take up 1/2 of the screen causing ne to have to shift left and right to view my content. I need to shrink those boxes.

Hey gillum007, Most of the time those black vertical bars come from extensions or sidebars. Try right-clicking the edge of the panel — you should see a resize handle to shrink them.
