In Thunderbird (102.11.0 (64-bit)) I have opted to view message body as plain text, but the e-mail body in the e-mail viewer and the e-mail body in the source doesn't match. Instead, Thunderbird is modifying the e-mail body.

Please see the screenshot comparing the message body as plain text and the e-mail body in the source.

How can I make Thunderbird truly show the message body as plain text?

The message is being displayed as plain text, as desired. The source view shows that the actual message is in HTML and TB is showing it as you requested, so what is the problem?

Thunderbird is modifying the e-mail body when it displays it. I want Thunderbird to stop modifying it and show the e-mail body how it really is.

How is it being modified, other than showing as plain text?

In the screenshot, compare the e-mail body in the e-mail viewer and the e-mail body in the e-mail source. They are different.

Be specific. Describe a sentence that is different.

If you cannot see the difference then you cannot help. Thanks anyway.

It appears you cannot explain the difference.
