Firefox 89.1.1 for Android Cannot Open any Downloaded File

kencykk

I downloaded the firefox for android stable version 89.1.1 from the play store. I found that I cannot open ALL types of downloaded file (such as pdf, image and apk file). When the download completed, I press the file name in the download page, (take PDF as example) the PDF viewer is opened but it closes immediately without showing any content of the file.

It would not be the problem of the downloaded file because I can download and open the file by using other browser normally.

I found this problem occurs in stable version. But there is no such problem in Nightly version.

Hi

Do you have an example of a site and a file that I can try here?

http://www.orimi.com/pdf-test.pdf

For example. The file can be downloaded to the phone storage but it can't be opened via firefox.

Hi

Firefox for Android does not have the ability to view .pdf files. You will need to use a .pdf viewer app on your Android device.

I have my PDF viewer installed on my phone. The problem is that when I finished downloading file in firefox and then press to open, the file could not be opened. I need to close the firefox app and then use the external file manager to open the downloaded file.

This problem would not occur when I use other browser (e.g. Chrome, Edge). In those browser, the file can be downloaded and opened directly through the download page of browser after downloading. I need not to use the external file manager in this case.

Hi

I have had a look and this appears to be an issue that you developers are aware of.

You can follow progress and add comments at:

https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/19841

That's exactly the situation.

Ok, no problem, glad we could point you in the right direction.

The bug is fixed by updating to the version 90.1.1.

Great news - thank you for letting us know.
