New messages moved by filter do not show until target folder is clicked

When a new message arrives, the Inbox folder name changes color and the number of new messages are shown in parenthesis.

I set up a filter that moves certain incoming messages to a new folder. The messages are moved correctly but there is no indication that the target folder contains new messages i.e. the folder name color does not changes and the number of messages is not shown until I click on the target folder. This is not a helpful behavior as it means i can have many new messages but not know they are there as there is no indication. I have to laboriously click on every possible target folder ( these abut ten filters and target folders) to see if there is anything new.

This seems to be this is a bugette. Would anyone care to try to reproduce and confirm my issue?

If you right-click a target folder, Properties, and check the box 'When getting new messages...', does the folder indicate new messages?
