I don't receive all of my messages from msn on Thunderbird, it syas its retrieveing them but they don't come in

I may receive 15 emails and then realize minutes later that I haven't received all of the emails I should have. I hit get messages and it says I have 17 new messages, the green bar to the right shows it's downloading them but hey don't come through and then Thunderbird disconnects from the server after several minutes

try disabling email scanning in your anti virus product and see if things improve after a reboot of your computer.
