An html5-Javascript AR app on my Galaxy S3 recently started spuriously reporting an orientation change when I click on a data entry field. window.matchMedia("(orientation: portrait)").addListener(setOrientationValue) reports a change to landscape mode and about 1 1/4 second later it goes back to (correct) portrait mode. I'm currently working around this bug by checking accelerationIncludingGravity, which gives the actual orientation.

Hi tmoran, I understand that you are working around a bug you may have found when developing in javascript and testing in Firefox for Android. I do not know the exact code and debugging would require another developer.

Please also ask your question at stackoverflow.com, and if they cannot find a work around bugzilla.mozilla.org is the site for reporting Firefox bugs:
