Hi,

in a state of mental derangement I have flashed my ZTE Open C with FLAME base image v180.zip:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Developer_phone_guide/Flame/Updating_your_Flame

Now, the device is not working anymore (black screen). Any ideas or suggestions how to get my device back to life? I have tried the windows based "Open C Upgrade Tool" from ZTE but Windows (7) do not recognize my phone as USB device (some driver issues, "qhsusb bulk" is missing).

Hi nicnoc,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your Firefox OS device after attempting to flash to a newer version.

Are you able to access your device through ADB or Fastboot?

You can go into Fastboot mode by turning off your device, and then turning it on with the following key combinations, depending on which device you have:

  • Hold Power + Volume Up
  • Hold Power + Volume Down

Next, you can check if your device is accessible by running the command "fastboot devices" in the terminal. Please let us know if you are able to get to this point.

You should also reach out to ZTE, who is the manufacturer of your specific device. They may be able to further assist you.

- Ralph

The device is recognized from my linux system as a Qualcomm modem:

I get the same under linux but I do get Windows coming up with: Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM10) Windows loads this device driver when I plug in the phone. I don't know if that helps anyone to come up with a solution or not.

I was really enjoying this little phone and hope I haven't killed it.
