This tells you how to clear a forgotten master password. Please note that it is also going to erase any saved email passwords so be ready to re-enter those.
tried the above solution, but still not allowing me to access (send or receive)emails
thanks for the try
Then I guess the question is what password you are trying to reset. The Thunderbird master password has nothing to do with receiving your email. It only protects access to any stored email account passwords that you might have. Your email account password is administered by your email provider. You need to work with them to reset a forgotten email password. They should have a !ink to reset a forgotten password on their email help site.

I am sorry but I am not a computer personage, all I know is every time I hit receive, the pop up says enter password and when I do it is rejected, even the 'new' password and the response from their website is enter the master password which I have no idea what it is. So I followed the instructions you sent and 'deleted' or somehow got past the master password and then entered a new password and it still comes up as non-recognizable and so I am back to ground zero and unable to use this software for my emails and unsure how to even get back to start and maybe initialize a 'new' or different email address (which I do not wish to do but may have to?). It was not your advice or solution but the system that is blocking me and I am not sure how to proceed. But thanks for the help!

The password that you would have been asked for was your email password.not a Thunderbird master password. As stated before the master password is for protecting any email passwords saved in Thunderbird. It has nothing to do with receiving your email.
If you go to your email providers web mail page can you log into your account using your username and password? This will confirm that you have a working username and password. If you cannot get into your account there, work with your provider to solve that problem.
If everything works there other things can cause a password error. Incorrect server settings or an overactive antivirus software will return the same password error.
The first step is knowing that you have working credentials.
