Thunderbird is slow scrolling through messages and I have tried your suggestions to Fix slowness,
Going from one message to the next is slow, about a second. This is a new problem. I have tried the Mozilla suggestions to fix this problem.

It would also be useful to know : what OS you use? What version of Thunderbird? Are you talking about Pop or IMAP mail accounts? If IMAP are they synchronised folders or just subscribed - not synched.
Do you have an anti-virus program scanning mail?
It is useful to know more about how you use Thunderbird to organise emails: How many folders do you have? What size are your folders? If unsure of size, you could download this addon: Extra Folder Columns
how to install addon: Tools > Addons > gear icon > Install addon from file see image below.
I use the Size column: see second image below
download the addon and then post an image which looks like the image I supplied, so I can see folder size.
Do you have a lot of emails in Inbox - how many? Do you compact folders frequently? Have you set up Archive options and Archive everything older than a couple of months?
Found cause. Verizon Real time scanning. If I turn it off Thunderbird works fine.
