Is there ANYthing that will download and play media with firefox 26!?

I think Firefox 26 is a DOG with FLEAS. I've read a number of comments from people with similar problems. Realplayer (even the latest) will not consistently work for downloading media files. Could somebody just tell me exactly WHAT app/add-on or whatever will do the BASIC functions of downloading media files, store them where I can find them, AND play them !? 

    I installed FFx. 26 a few days ago because Intrnt. Exporer was prone to causing my display driver to crash repeatedly.  I think I just traded one lemon for another.

Just click Add to Firefox to start using it.
