Is there a way to achieve this behaviour: Let's say I have a last tab left open, for example mozilla.org or any other site. When closing that tab I want firefox to open about:newtab. This can be achieved by setting closeWindowWithLastTab flag in config. But here is the catch when closing that about:newtab I want to close window.

So basically - Close window with last tab only if it is about:newtab. Also I want the close button on last tab to remain there.

P.S. Last tab close button extension did not help.

Have you tried the following about:config tweak?

I dont think you can make that domain specific.

As I mentioned in the post. I have, but as you already pointed out it's not domain specific. Which is exactly my problem. Maybe someone heard of an extension that does that or something?

Oh oops, also see https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/last-tab-close-button/?src=ss not sure what youre looking for, but domain based, not there.

Yep, tried that also. did not work. Ok, i think you made it pretty clear that no one made an extension to check domain before closing tab. So... there is no right answer... for now... i hope...
