I did a fresh install of Firefox, after deleting all folders and profiles of my previous installation. I did not install any extensions and did not change any settings.

When opening the first bookmark of a folder in the bookmark menu (or toolbar) by middle mouse click, Firefox closes. All other bookmarks (second and further) open just fine.

If two or more tabs are open, the "do you really want to close all tabs" pop up appears.

After searching through about:config and not finding anything related, I now think it may be caused by my Logitech drivers? Maybe you already experienced problems with Logitech drivers before and give me a hint...

Thank you in advance

Hi,

Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode" To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

You can try to right-click and Toggle the key browser.tabs.warnOnCloseOtherTabs to false in about:config

The Config Descriptions add-on adds helpful source comments in about:config.

Well, did you even read my question? It's a fresh installation, NO EXTENSIONS installed.

The problem remains when starting in safe mode and the change of browser.tabs.warnOnCloseOtherTabs unfortunately made no improvement...

Actually Safe Mode also disables, themes and hardware acceleration in addition to extensions as pointed out in the above link. browser.tabs.warnOnCloseOtherTabs is the setting related to "do you really want to close all tabs".

You can try entering about:crashes in the location (address) bar, check for crash reports if any corresponding to the time when this happens and click a link. You can also post it here.

(Un)Fortunately there are no crashes. Neither before nor after reproducing the pop up message.

It doesn't really "feel" like a crash at all. I open the first bookmark of a folder, the tab opens (I forgot to mention that before, the desired website opens in a new tab!), but nevertheless Firefox behaves as if I wanted to close all open tabs and throws the "do you want to close all open tabs blabla" pop up. Which I can reject and continue to browse normally.

Problem remains.

Would have surprised me, because the previous profile was new ;)

Is it with the default set of bookmarks, or with a custom imported set?

You can try to check this in Windows Safe Mode with networking.

Yeah, no problem in Windows safe mode :P That confirms my guess that it's the Logitech drivers fault, right? :(

Probably. It would also be helpful to check the Logitech forum for similar issues.

Anyway, thank you very much for your time and help!
