connection has timed out - error message keeps appearing when moving to another site.
Once connected to a site it seems OK. Also my router security log records a lot of "SYN flood" events - several of these are outbound, so could there be a relation here? Is Firefox generating these which somehow clog the router? Thanks

not tried it, but will do some tests.......
It is marginally better in safe mode, but the SYN flood still happens in the router log - this may of course have nothing to do with Firefox....

do other internets applications experience problems at the same time?
Yes/not sure what is meant by Eye patch/yes - eg Thunderbird do have similar problems. Does this help?
