After downloading and installing 7.01 four times, the opening Firefox screen still stated "Almost There" and prompts me to download it again. Why?

My initial question states the problem. Following my downloading and going through the entire installation I was again prompted by the opening Firefox screen that I was "Almost There" to download and install again. I have done this now four times, and still the opening screen tells me "Almost There." Along the way I have completely turned off my computer, just in case that was necessary for the installation to take effect. But I'm still getting only the "Almost There" screen -- why? And how can it be fixed quickly? SSBartchy ssbartchy@gmail.com.

BTW: this is the second time I've asked for your help. I submitted my request at least three days ago.

Start by uninstalling Firefox, and delete the program directory (not the profile). Try installing again after doing that. If that fails, you could try installing a nightly branch build from a .zip file. I was installing Firefox that way when I was using Windows. The place to get such a zip file is here:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/7.0.1-candidates/build1/unsigned/win32/

Thank you for your reply, finitarry. Since my Firefox was working perfectly before this recent invitation to download, I find it bizarre that this latest version has messed things up and continues to do so after four separate downloads.

I do appreciate your suggestions for correction, yet without a truly simple solution, I'm inclosed just to eliminate Firefox from my computer and use another service. For my purpose, I do not need all the bells and whistles and I do not have any more time to try to make 7.01 work for me - with no guarantee that your good suggestions will really be effective.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. SSBartchy
