Update has caused Firefox to lose passwords and cookies... again

more options

Firefox has just updated to version 84, and has lost all my passwords, and I think cookies too. This is the second time this has happened.

I have had a look in Windows Explorer to see if there is an older file (C:\ProgramData\Mozilla), but nothing there that looks hopeful at all.

I have to ask myself: Should I be using Chrome?

"Have you asked yourself why you did not backup your profile before "ugrading" to protect yourself from being burned?"

Good point. If Firefox had said there was a risk it could lose all that data, and told me how to back it up, I might have done that. It did not.

Or perhaps you are saying I should just ASSUME it is crappy software, and and I should back up before letting it do anything it could screw up?

Always backup before upgrading any software. That's common sense.

There should be backups in your profile folder.
