Firefox restore the previous session from sessionstore.jsonlz4 in the profile folder, so if the wrong session is restored then there is a problem with this file.

Are you using a session managing extension?

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.jsonlz4 file in the Firefox profile folder that stores session data.

  • delete sessionstore.jsonlz4 and sessionstore.js

When sessionstore.jsonlz4 is deleted you lose pinned tabs and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

i thinked i tryed that but i cant find sessionstore.jsonlz4

Hi bullcv6, the sessionstore.jsonlz4 is created when Firefox exits/quits normally. If it's not there, possibly a different program removes it. Then at startup, Firefox goes looking for the next oldest session history file in the sessionstore-backups folder, which could be quite a bit older.

Can you think of any other software on your system that might clean Firefox data, such as CCleaner or Advanced System Care? You may want to set them not to touch Firefox data.

Hi bullcv6, there probably is a Windows-level solution to removing a corrupted file, but if I could suggest a possible workaround. That would be to rename the sessionstore-backups folder and let Firefox create a new one. Here's my suggested procedure:

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table on the page, on the Profile Folder row, click the "Open Folder" button. This should launch a new window listing various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leaving that window open, switch back to Firefox and Exit, either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > Exit
  • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishes its cleanup, then right-click sessionstore-backups and click Rename, then add OLD at the end so it reads sessionstore-backupsOLD and click away to complete the edit. Hopefully Windows lets you do that?

Then when you start Firefox, it should create a new sessionstore-backups folder and you won't be haunted by the corrupte file.

Does that work?

Maybe also run chkdsk.exe as administrator (chkdsk.exe /f /r) in case the hard drive is corrupted.
