How do I handle "my email turned into Mozmsgs or Wdsmil, and sbd files. Can't read my email
Since a severe crash occurred last week requiring a full restoration of this entire 4 terabyte hard drive backup file which takes place automatically every night, everything then appeared Okay except for my Mozilla Thunderbird email.
I just don't know what to do with Mozmsgs or Wdsmil files among others. These are what my email folders have turned into. I just don't know if the dozens of folders and hundreds of emails still exist in one state or another nor do I know how to restore them. I hope someone out there can help me to restore my email to a readable form. I don't know what else to do and am hoping I can find help on this website. I would be most grateful if someone can. Mozmsgs or Wdsmil files come from having "Allow Windows Search ..." enabled at tools > options > advanced > general, or the account set to store messages in maildir format.
Neither of these is necessarily bad unless you didn't intend to have them enabled.
I disabled "Allow Windows Search" and it made no difference at all. I even rebooted afterwards but I'm still getting mail as "Mozmsgs or Wdsmil" files. I saw nothing referring to "maildir" format but I suspect "Allow Windows Search" knows what that's all about. Fortunately any mail sent to any one of 3 different domains that I own all get redirected to my main email account at Verizon.net. Unfortunately there is apparently no way of copying anything to show you.
