when I try to open a link on my emails I cant and receive a Microsoft Outlook Box with the following: "your organisations policies are preventing us from completing this action for you. For more....."
My internet provider cant help and suggested that I change browser...

This sounds more as though your organization (or settings on Windows 7/8/10 settings, when using Enterprise versions or settings) has prevented IMAP(S), try again with POP3(S) in Thunderbird.
