I am using Firefox 50.0.2 and when I start with an existing profile firefox does not load. Its shows an empty firefox screen but then stops.

If I delete the profile I can start using firefox normally (ask to import settings, checks for default browser,...). When I then exit firefox and start again the same issue appears.

Do not import a new profile. That way you will be able to run Firefox. Please confirm that works and continues to work once you close and restart Firefox.

Where are you importing the profile from ? Is this information from a previously used Browser such as Internet Explorer ?

What did you have in the previous profile that you need ?

Did you previously have an earlier version of Firefox ? If so a new install or upgrade of Firefox would try to find and use that profile. Have you checked the behaviour of Fx50.02 it may already be using the original Firefox profile and already have any bookmarks or logins that you created in an earlier version of Firefox.

I did not import a profile. But when a new profile is created I have the same issue. I removed the profile and created a new one without importing anything but sam result.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
