I did what Gild suggested: Tools - Options - Display - Formatting - Fonts and Colors, put in font and size I wanted, put same font in next window (Advanced). It worked once, but now I keep getting Times and tiny font size unless I change the font in the mini window in Write. Microsoft gremlins at work?

The path you have been given sets the font used to display messages in Thunderbird.

It doesn't set the font used to compose messages. That is found under Tools|Options|Composition|General.

When you set the Display option, did you set it for all the character encodings you are likely to encounter? Windows users tend to use Western and ISO variants, but elsewhere you may meet UTF. When you reply to a message, it is normal to use the same encoding as the incoming message. So if you haven't actively set other encodings, you'll get the defaults, which may well be tiny Times Roman.

I see something like this also. I set for "Arial" font and I get that unless I space a couple times, or change to a new line. Then I get "Times" font. I use HTML and in composition under tools I have set for "Arial".

Also as others have complained after an update a while back I cannot change font colors. No solution has been presented for that.

I see I am not alone. Is this rocket science and should we ask Houston to get involved....
