I read alot of fanfics on fanfiction.net when I'm not doing anything else; and sometimes when I look at some words in the italicized format, the word seems split and the top half is moved forward just a smidge

is this a firefox problem relating to this 38.0.5 update, or could the problem either be a website issue; anyone else having this problem anywhere else? Just now the problem seemed to vanish but I'm relatively sure its still there

Hello,

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps:

  1. Open Firefox Options window (Preferences on Mac or Linux) as follows:
    • In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button New Fx Menu and select Options for Windows or Preferences on Mac or Linux.
    • In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  2. In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the Advanced tab, then select General.
  3. In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  4. Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Ok, ill say this now; I'm having a few problems with firefox 38.0.5, and one of them told me to reinstall my graphics driver, and I did so, just like that there, that didn't fix my word problem

disabling the hardware acceleration actually fixes it, but any bolded words seem squished together ionstead of properly spaced out; and when I turned on hardware acceleration, that fixed the squished word problem, but brought back the broke words problem

wat do? and this problem didn't get fixed when I uninstalled firefox in its entirety and reinstalled everything again, so asking me to refresh my firefox I will not do; the extensions I got installed, I refuse to part with any of them
