Please help me get Firefox up and running. I really like to use Firefox, plus all of my passwords are saved in it. Ever since last week, I have not been able to open Firefox. I read several articles on how to fix it and I tried but had no success. Here is what I've tried so far:

-Uninstall, delete program folder. Reinstalled, still wouldn't open -Reset FireFox in SafeMode, still wouldn't open

Here is the event details from the crash report:

Hmm, both of your crashes involve ATI display drivers. You may want to look for an update. AMD's site has a small auto-detect app that simplifies the process of finding the best update. However, the updates themselves are huge, so hopefully you have a good internet connection.

hello skn310, please try to start firefox into safemode by pressing the shift key while the application is launching & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

Hello, try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) and then see if that helps to open Firefox.

thank you

It won't start in SafeMode this way because the FireFox "has stopped working" box pops up before "Firefox Safe Mode" box has a chance to load. I must close program.

Yes, I can open Firefox in SafeMode by suddenly shutting down my computer and selecting "SafeMode with Networking." However, I need to be able to use Firefox in normal mode. How can I get my beloved Firefox up and running again? This is so upsetting. :(

A BEX error can indicate external software trying to inject itself into another process. If you can, please try the malware scanning tools in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These are free and take considerable time to run. If they seem to finish fairly quickly and indicate you need to pay for cleaning, you may have a Fake AV infection and you should try the specialized cleanup forums listed in the article.

You might also double-check that Firefox is not set to run with any Compatibility parameters. If you right-click the shortcut > Properties > Compatibility tab, everything should be unchecked to take maximum advantage of Windows 7.

I disabled hardware acceleration in safemode and restarted computer. Firefox is still crashing on startup but, now with a different problem report:

I downloaded all of the malware software from the article you shared. I will update this situation once I complete the scans.

By the way, none of the compatibility boxes were checked in the Properties menu.

Hi, see if the next is helpful : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc738483%28WS.10%29.aspx (specially the "To configure DEP settings")

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

I scanned my computer using all of the programs listed above. There was no malware found on my computer.

What now? Do I have to download Chrome or just use IE? Will FireFox never open on my computer? I even updated the service pack on my computer and still, no fix.

Please give me a fix. Thanks!

jscher2000, you are a genius! I updated the drivers as you suggested, restarted the computer, tried to open Firefox but it crashed. I was able to reset FF, and upon restarting it it started right up! Now i'm able to use my favorite browser again!

Thanks to everyone's help here and especially to jscher who came up with the fix!

<3 ya Lots!
