I have the latest firefox. I have the latest adobe. I use AVG. It is set to allow adobe. I have been through all the hoops your repair site suggested. I am now using Chrome as my main browser. Same PC, same user, same security, same adobe --- no crashes! Firefox has a problem. I am soooooo upset that since I have reported this to firefox all I get are suggestions that something is wrong on my end. If you google this right now, you will see that I am not alone, and that it has been going on for a while. Why don't you think you have a problem? You guys remind me of a certain mayor in Toronto!

If you say youve been through all the tips on the repair site I'll assume youve already tried un-installing and re-installing both Firefox and Flashplayer.

My suggestion is, having you tried going in addons and then plugins and making sure Flashplayer is active?

(My OS is linux, so it may be different)

Hello again! :)

I believe that the issue is caused by two installations of the Shockwave Flash plugin present (versions 14.0 r0 and 11.9 r900). You can check that by pressing Alt-T/Add-Ons and choosing the Plugins tab.

To solve the issue you need to completely uninstall the Shockwave Flash plugin and re-install the latest version. You will find instructions for this on the Adobe site. Unfortunately the installation/uninstallation of Shockwave Flash is by Adobe and not by Firefox.

We understand your frustration and we would admit it is our fault if the majority of the Firefox installations had this problem. Thankfully, this is not the case, and we need to work towards solving the problems presented on a case by case basis (as in your case).

To compare us with ... a certain mayor in Toronto is simply not fair. :)

Thanks!

I had only one version of Flash installed. Still crashes. Also get a message saying that some code stopped working. Very annoying. If Adobe Flash doesn't play well with Firefox than why it is the only video plugin allowed? There are several others. Why doesn't Firefox use them?

If Flash crashes in Firefox for you, but not other browsers, try disabling Flash's Protected Mode for Firefox. I am running Win 8 64bit with latest Firefox and Flash and was encountering this issue. Disabling Protected Mode fixed it for me:

(these instructions work fine for Flash 15.x)

Thank you for the reply but that didn't work. I still get the following message:

"Shockwave Flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the plugin now, or you can continue to see if the plugin will complete."

This locks up Firefox until I chose the "stop plugin" button. And then it occurs again in just a few seconds.
