I have set up rules to move messages from the inbox to saved folders. There are some messages which remained in the Inbox and I have read but not moved to saved folders. There are other read messages which remain in the Inbox. The count of messages in the Inbox (and all folders as well) does not match the number of messages displayed. I am attaching a screenshot showing there are 2 messages displayed in my Inbox, but showing a count of 7 messages. I know there is at least one of the "missing" messages which I need to move manually to another folder, but how do I see those "missing" messages?

Using Thunderbird with Windows 11. Yesterday I could send/receive Emails OK. Today I cannot use either. Didn't change anything. When I try to send message, a box with this message appears: "Login to server smtp.gmail.com with username [redacted] @gmail.com failed". I am logged in to my Google account. A few months ago, the same thing happened. Gave up for the night and the next morning everything worked OK. Is Thunderbird occasionally out of service? I tried Microsoft Outlook and it works OK so I know internet is OK

Also, I notice receiving messages takes a long time sometimes. I get messages sometimes a full day later. Outlook is almost instantaneous. If I send a message to me, it is received within seconds. Any suggestions? Regards, Art Towslee [redacted] @gmail.com [redacted] (cell)

Thunderbird won't download messages from the email account that we have at . It was working perfectly last week, but starting Friday it will start to download the messages, but never does. Eventually, it displays the following error: Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox. What can I do to fix this? Or, can I downgrade to an earlier version that will work? Thanks, Graham [redacted email]

I like to keep my inbox empty. Generally archive and delete (having dealt with the email) work well. However occasionally it is useful to delay them by a day, a week, a month... Please add this feature. It was in my old email client!

Otherwise I am loving Thunderbird!

when I go to get my email, it says I have 7 messages. Then a message pops up saying timed out and cannot download my messages. It has worked for all the years I have used Thunderbird. What can I do?

I received an invite to join thundermail. I began the process of signing up, however I was unable to finish fully activating my account due to losing internet at my apartment. The email says while the invite doesn't expire, the address I chose does, which I presume has already happened, but now when I attempted to go through the process again I get a "WE'RE SORRY" page when I attempt to follow a link from an email that lists: "

Your administrator has just requested that you update your Thunderbird account by performing the following action(s): Verify Email. Click on the link below to start this process."

Not sure exactly how to proceed. More than a bit cumbersome.

Habe nicht wissentlich eine Quickarchiver-Ordner angelegt. Ich finde ich auch nicht, bzw. ist nicht vorhanden. Der Ordnername endet auf (inbox). Wie bekomme ich das wieder Rückgängig. Danke für eine Rückantwort.

Thank you as always. I am using Windows 11 and Thunderbird 153.3.1esr. When I open past newsletters using "Edit as New Message," I cannot create a line break by pressing Enter before the first character of the body text. Line breaks work elsewhere in the body text and in regular new emails. This mainly occurs with group newsletters. If I change the formatting to [Paragraph] and then switch back to [Body Text] with Ctrl+Z, I can create line breaks in that editing screen. Is there a permanent fix?

Windooze 11. TBird 152.0 installed on June 20th. Now it seems like TBird is not displaying HTML emails properly. They are displayed but not at the beginning. The first line is sometimes just the bottom half of a sentence in the email (if that makes sense). I can't scroll back to the beginning. If I go to outlook and display the same email it displays fine.

Did something change in 152.0 to cause this?

Hello Since I changed my TB Android incoming server setting from POP to IMAP, Android has repeatedly reported app crashes. It asked me to clear cache, which I tried. See img attached. Eventually it said it was putting the app into deep sleep. Yesterday, after I sent an email to a gmail acct I was unable to find a copy of the email in a sent folder, there wasn't any Sent folder. There were only 2 folders, Inbox & Outbox. I expected there to be Sent & Draft folders. Eventually I discovered via Manage folders an Inbox.sent & Inbox.drafts. So I tried to change folders so Sent & Drafts are at 6the same level as Inbox & Outbox. Yesterday there were approx 26 emails in the Inbox. This morning there are 3 new emails in the Inbox & the 26 emails have disappeared & Inbox.sent, Inbox.drafts have disappeared. The 3rd & 4th attachments show the current folder settings. My TB Desktop incoming server serting is POP. Please tell me what I am doing wrong & what I must do to be able to see all my emails, received & sent. Thank you

Subject says it all. I installed Thunderbird maybe a month ago, because the web version of Yahoo email changed their interface, again, one too many times for me. I love the customizability of Thunderbird!!

If only I could get a handle on the odd checkbox behavior though ...  :-)

September 24, 2026 Hello. The Mozilla Firefox express connect to email icon on the taskbar shows a superscript of 2. I have no unread emails in either of my mail accounts. What is the 2 indicating? It has been like that for a couple of days now. Please help. Thank you. Helen

I apologize for the subject line, but there is no better way to describe the problem....

I've been using Thunderbird for a few months now and it has mostly worked well. Then this afternoon I was reading my mail in the Unified Inbox and I noticed something very odd. I had a number of emails showing in the header list with the same "From" and various subject lines. On the face of it, that wouldn't describe any weird behavior except that I noticed the subject lines absolutely didn't match the "From" information.

As I would go to read these emails, the email itself would be correct in the preview pane -- including showing the correct sender name and email -- but the "From" information in the header list pane would still be wrong.

I'm sorry that I can't post a screenshot to make this more clear because there is just too much personal information on screen. But these emails are from several different senders, received by several different email accounts. Everything is correct except that the "From" shown in the header pane is wrong. This is very obvious to me because I normally run entirely in the Unified Inbox with the emails sorted by the "From" information

One example is an email that is actually from "U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs <do-not-reply@notifications.va.gov>" which Thunderbird displays correctly in the preview pane (where I usually read my emails) and if I open the email itself, but the header pane says this email is From "Prepper-co <joshua@prepper-co.com>"

Another example is an email that is actually from "USPS Customer Support <uspscustomersupport@usps.gov>" but the header pane says it is from "Rainier Arms <sales@rainierarms.com" < p></sales@rainierarms.com">

These two examples were received in different email accounts that aren't even on the same server. I have other emails from these same senders that are shown correctly

I found this problem while using 150.0 (64-bit), which said 150.0.1 was available, so I restarted Thunderbird and it updated to 150.0.1 (64-bit) but the problem is the same.
