Hi MajorFoley, what did you mean by "i would like to have the same profile lettering at this one"?

Note that you also need the profiles.ini file if you want to restore a saved Firefox profile folder.

i mean i want it to have the same number/letter combination e.g 2eniqpga.default Cor-el where can i find that file? isnt it automatically backed up when i use mozbackup?

Hi MajorFoley, profiles.ini is one or two levels up from your profile folder.

shouldnt that mean i should just copy the entire mozilla folder in appdata/roaming then? Whats so important that i need profiles.ini? is it needed for that specific profile i want to use?

The profiles.ini file has the have the correct name of the profile. If Firefox can't find the profile folder that is expects to find, Firefox will just create a new profile. Basically, the profiles.ini file is the index of the profiles.

The profiles.ini file is the profile registry and it makes the connection between the profile name as listed in the Profile Manager and the location (folder) on the hard drive. It also can mark the last used profile folder o be used when you click a link in an external program and Firefox isn't running.
