Oh, Delta Toolbar. Firefox stores preferred search engines in several different places. The extension removal process does not touch those settings, but is a necessary prerequisite to restoring your control over them.
This extension will restore the defaults (i.e., Google):
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/
If the problem returns after you restart Firefox, this can indicate the presence of a user.js settings file in your personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder. But let's come back to that if necessary.

Hello cornishcynders, you can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
thank you
Hiya ,have just started microsoft scanner.I've installed avast .but it's still there. have cleared some of it from registry ,but it still comes up as a search page. I'll see what happens & get back to you .
Well i've run it (micro-scanner)and it didnt find it.it's still here & i'm really fed up with it.
I've also removed from add/remove progs ,done as much as i dare from registry ,removed from addons ,ran revoUninstaller and it's still there. very annoyed that this came from a ff addon!!! any ideas?please?
In case it is not considered malware (just annoying) you may need to uninstall it manually:
You may need to close Firefox during that process to ensure that the program can remove the extension.
If it's still there after that, you can disable (and often remove) add-ons from within Firefox. Check the following pages for anything unwanted, unrecognized, or just nonessential, and disable it:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
Restart Firefox after disabling extensions and check again. Gone?
hi , i have done a system restore ,removed toolbar in IE and FF ,have ran both avast and AVG . I've removed (did that first)from addons ,have downloaded revo uninstaller which was no use and i've uninstalled. have deleted in registry ,then i open a page and there it is for my search engine. have used words luckily not heard by kids. how is it (aka delta) still there ? Thank you so much !!!!,
Earlier ,a 'friend' .told me i'd never get rid of it and it would wreak havoc (was known to) with all my settings etc.inc. security. But even if it's not showing ,technically it is still there isnt it ?Why would FF condone something like that? Annoying and rather scary with its' tenacity. Cynders.x. It came with an eBay addon btw.
What is the specific name of this "eBay" extension and where did you get it from?
Extensions hosted on addons.mozilla.org (majority are third-party) should not come with any viruses but if by tiny chance one did slip through, it could then be removed by the AMO staff.
