Firefox wants me to upgrade, but when I click the upgrade button it takes me to a page where I have to sign up for the newsletter to proceed. Is there a way to get the upgrade without the newsletter? Much as I like Firefox, I don't want to be forced to get yet another newsletter I won't read.

You can go to http://getfirefox.com and click the download link, then close Firefox and install the new one.
