After version 149 update, search returns blank page on yahoo
Default homepage is yahoo. Since the update to version 149, if I do a search from yahoo, the new tab that opens with the search result is blank most of the time. I have to click reload for the search results to show up.
Is anybody else having that problem? Seems to be yahoo search specific but not 100% sure.

Hi,
The issue should now be resolved on Yahoo's side (which means you don't need to change any settings to make it work). Could you please confirm?

Hello, I'm having the same issue on all 3 desktops that FF auto updated. As well as the update changed ALL my color schemes. Very frustrating for someone visually impaird.

Hi, I have the same issue on every laptop that is running FF. The version is 149.0.
More info: After entering search terms and hitting enter my screen is blank but a "new tab" opens. I then delete that tab, my screen goes back to hpmepage (with the search terms still there) I hit enter and I then get the search results screen. I believe in older versions there was an option to select where search results appear. NOT with this version however.
I'm having the same problem too. Very frustrating to have to keep hitting the search 2 & 3 times before it will work. Tried all the fixes I could find online & nothing seems to work.

Hi, This is a bug/issue with version 149.
I found 3 bug reports on Bugzilla.mozilla.org
Bug 2030771 - https://uk.yahoo.com/ search goes to blank page instead of results on first attempt Bug 2031100 - cannot use search.yahoo.com for home screen Bug 2032519 - Firefox v149.0.2 -> go to yahoo.com, type anything in the search bar, hit enter, a new tab opens up instead of it performing a search
So there is hope that this bug/issue will be fixed.

Hi, just a quick update. This issue is now tracked and investigated under bug 2034019. While I don't think there's a timeline to share yet, you can follow the bug, and I'll post major updates here.

Thanks for the update

The current theory is some malware or bot started using the signature of Firefox, and Yahoo in blocking some malicious actors also somehow managed to block part of Firefox connections.
There's a small change currently tested for v151 that should resolve this, however for all the older versions there's an experiment underway, to try to change the setting remotely for users that haven't actively disabled these feature improvements. It might take some time, it may only pick up after restarting, but chances are these connections can be fixed for affected users even before there's an update available.
So in case you get unblocked "out of the blue", please share any news here — it actually might have been the remote rollout trying to mitigate the issue — the feedback is extremely valuable to confirm it's resolving the connection for folks! Thanks.
UPDATE: Yahoo is also planning to release a fix on their side, so this hopefully goes away today for everyone.

Just a note. I changed my search engine from Yahoo to Google (but left my home page as yahoo.com) and the same thing happens.
For me it got fixed " out of the blue" just now, no FF update or any change on my part, also i didnt try any kind of online fix if there was any.
I used my browser about 6-7 hours ago and i had the issue, now its fixed.
FF version 150.0.1
Yes, same here. It hasn't been happening for a few hours. I'm still not convinced that it's fixed. Need to give it more time.
The remote feature shipped Thursday afternoon so it hopefully unblocks the affected users. (There's always a chance folks have that functionality disabled either deliberately or through their distribution, so the same tweak is also shipping in the next scheduled updates for the rest.)
If you wanted to check you've received the remote setting already, an entry would appear in your about:support section "Remote Features" as "Disable Security Pref Firefox 150" once downloaded and applied, and that should do the trick.

It appears to be. After the "about:support section "Remote Features" as "Disable Security Pref Firefox 150" it looks like things are ok.
Hi Everyone
For the past 3 days the issue is no longer there. I did nothing to try to resolve it on both my Windows 10 & 11 desktops. For now....it's all back to normal.
Same here. It just stopped happening about 3 days ago.
