then acceptance with sign-in press

no activity on that keypress

Are you blocking JavaScript through an extension like NoScript or uBlock Origin? It is possible that the button relies on js that is being blocked.

I have seen this with captcha stuff. It silently fails because the captcha related scripts are blocked.

I'm not recommending that you disable any extensions, just trying to provide context.
