bookmarks didn't load from earlier firefox
I just update firefox but all my none of my bookmarks loaded. I share my computer with my husband. He has a different account on this same computer and his bookmarks are showing up on my side, but mine are nowhere to be found. Previously we have had separate bookmark lists and all was fine. I don't know where my bookmarks went.
How do I get them back and put on "my side" and still have my husband's on his side?

I am still awaiting information from the troubleshooting page. I clicked the button over 15 minutes ago and nothing. Is there just a file somewhere I can go find them and put them in manually if this won't work?
Hmm, I'm not sure why that didn't complete normally. This article has the manual solution of removing files so Firefox rebuilds them: Fix "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message. Please note that removing places.sqlite will delete your browsing and download history.

Hi, it sounds as though you both have separate Windows logins. Could you make sure you are using your login and not his? The reason for that is each Windows account will have its own default Firefox profile and they shouldn't cross over.
If you share the same Windows account, then it sounds as though you started up in your husband's profile. Do you have separate icons, or how do you normally keep your stuff separate?
We use different email addresses to each log into our "accounts." There is usually no overlap whatsoever. If I didn't use his separate email and associated password, I could not get into his account, and vice versa.
He does not have a Microsoft account---I am the only one who has one, I guess. In fact, I think I have more than one, but I try not to use them because I get so confused having different "addresses" with associated and different passwords.
Thanks for your input. It was all working before I attempted to update my Mozilla account---or whatever they call it. As you can tell, I am computer challenged, and having to update and change all the time just ain't my choice for having fun. My cell phone is the same. If the wind isn't blowing correctly and I am not facing the correct direction, it won't work either. I live in that section of the country that has a big hole in the map for cell phone service, so I just don't use it.
I appreciate your comments.

The way Firefox works, your bookmarks and settings are primarily stored locally. You can copy your data to the Sync cloud by signing Firefox in to a Mozilla account. If you and he use the same local data, then everything should end up getting merged when you sign in. But it's not merged. That makes me think maybe you normally start Firefox in a different way to keep your local data separate. I'm just not sure what you have been doing up to now.
Could you take a look at the About Profiles page? If you and he have been using different Firefox profiles to keep your local data separate, this is where you would usually find them and be able to launch them independently of one another. How to:
Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.
This page should list at least one profile and could list many. (Each profile has two folders and one or more buttons. Do not use any Remove buttons!)
The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:
This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.
Do you have any other profile(s) listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one with your bookmarks by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.
If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.
If it IS what you want, make a note of its name so we can help you create a personal shortcut for starting Firefox with your profile.
Any progress so far?
I am getting some assistance from my brother via long distance through TEAMVIEWER. However, TEAMVIEWER is having some issues and kicking him off after 4 minutes. What we think happened was a power bump and Firefox wasn't able to finish loading because it gives me a window that says "finish loading Firefox" but there is no avenue from that to do anything to get to where I can finish....so I am keeping your information. Once we get TV to working and he can stay on longer then 4 minutes, we may have to start from scratch and try reloading Firefox and go from there.
Thanks so much for your assistance, suggestions and directions!!!!!!!
Every time there is an update, something new doesn't work. It might be that a website doesn't load anymore or something else. This time my bookmarks have evaporated and I can find no help anywhere on this site to restore them.
Now, I will go to another browser that is more stable and reliable. Sorry, Mozilla, this is one time too many.

If that doesn't work out, try this:
First, if you haven't already, please do a normal shutdown and/or restart of your system. Restarting Windows can help by freeing up locked files, completing any deferred updates, and resolving temporary file permission issues.
Next, if Firefox still has bookmark problems, could you let us know what you get when you run the "Verify Integrity" diagnosis and repair function. That's here:
Open Firefox's Troubleshooting Information page using any of these methods:
- "3-bar" menu button > Help > More Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > More Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
Near the bottom, there is a section titled Places Database -- that's the file which stores history and bookmarks. Click the button labeled Verify Integrity. There may be a 10-15 second delay before results appear.
If all is well, the report that appears below the button should start with:
> Task: checkIntegrity + The places.sqlite database is sane + The favicons.sqlite database is sane > Task: invalidateCaches + The caches have been invalidated > Task: checkCoherence + The database is coherent
Does yours say that, or something else? You can select and copy the report, and then paste it into a reply for review and comment.
If you need help transferring your bookmarks now without access to export them:
You can upload one of the automatic backups Firefox made recently to my converter, which should create a cross-browser compatible file you can import. https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ffu/bookbackreader.html
