My old computer died so I don't have any information on previous download. You want me to sync to new computer but I can't so what do I do? I need both Mozilla and Thunderbird on my new laptop but have no way of knowing what you want from me in order to do that.

Simply sign in to your Firefox Account (Sync account). If you are able to sign in the Sync process should start almost immediately.

But I have to warn you that Sync wasn't intended for "backup" purposes, is is meant to be used to synchronize data across multiple devices. The largest problem I have seen with users using Sync as a backup medium for a solitary device is that they don't realize that Firefox Account Password is the "key" to unlock their data.

So if a user using Sync on one device decides to change their Password when that device is devoid of Firefox data or they are replacing an old device that quit working the new Password wouldn't be able to be used to recover their data. When the Sync password is changed, the Sync server deletes the data which is stored by the Sync server.
