I simply want to print an email and it's attachment (eg pdf) but with the pdf opened , not as an icon/link. Any way or 'add on' that can do this?

No you can not just print a pdf attachment without opening it. Nor can you do that with any attachment other than text, eml and a few image formats like jpg and png
