Switching identities not updating signature, only adding to previous signature
Using a Macbook Pro OS X 10.8.5 with Thunderbird 31.2.0
I have 5 identities for different reply to addresses and signatures. Some have the same signature. My default identity has my work signature.
When I want to create an email the default identity and signature is selected as my work. If I choose my personal identity from the drop-down menu it adds my personal signature atop of my work one. It does not replace it like it used to, and how it should.
I think this is since 31.1 something upgrade or so. Is not an old problem.
And suggestions or can someone help me fix this problem. I have no programming skills.

I have checked this and now realise this only applies when "Reply"-ing to an email. With a new email is behaves as expectedly replacing the default signature with the newly selected identity version
I have attached images to show what I mean in case of misunderstanding.
Screen Shot 2014-10-14 at 17.25.30.png - shows the default state after clicking "Reply"
Screen Shot 2014-10-14 at 17.25.37.png - shows what happens when I select my personal identity
Screen Shot 2014-10-14 at 17.25.48.png - added this for humour effect. This is when I switch back to the default.
On further investigation I have come to learn that this is affected by where you choose to have your signature - below my reply, or below the quote (quote is the original message being replied to).
I have ascertained from this that if you have selected for your signature to be below your reply, Thunderbird treats your signature as part of the reply when you come to change identities.
Obviously this is not correct behaviour. Is this why Thunderbird "Recommends" Signature below the quote? As it can not handle below the reply?
