How to block Google search engine returning advertising results?

more options

I currently use Google as my search engine, and every time I use it I get a rash of unwanted advertising crap at the head (top) of the search results. I know I can update my "interests" preferences in Google to "target" the ads, but I want to get rid of these pesky nuisances altogether.

Anyone got any suggestions apart from moving to a different search engine?

thanks

Adblock plus does remove those ads. However you need to open up it's settings and both make sure you are subscribed to a filter (Easy list is what I use) and uncheck the "Allow some non-intrusive ads"

i suspect your using windows 8 or 8.1 .... the results apear to be from a microsoft search agregator and not a tool bar installer

Thanks for the reply. All the relevant info about my browser should be there with the question, but Windows 8.1 it is. How the Google search engine integrates the ads I have no idea. However, I'd be surprised if MS has anything to do with it. Just wondered if anyone out there in the community had found a way to suppress these pesky ads.

add blocker pro is awesome and free - available on chrome and firefox as an addon....

also try outpost security suite or the free version http://free.agnitum.com/

a very light on cpu usage system protector with intigrated add blocker

i had a look at that photo you posted lolz :(

those adverts are part of how google earns their money on their search engine and are generally related to the query

Tried all the obvious solutions. ABP etc. Nothing touches them.

Brilliant - thanks. My apologies to ABP for doubting it!
