I did the required up date a few days ago, and completely lost my Bookmarks....both on my toolbar and the "other Bookmarks"....

I have always used Firefox as my default, but now am at a loss, and am having to use Chrome. I have Windows 11 installed, so I am totally confused and shocked that this has happened to me.

Yesterday, I lost most of my bookmarks in several Bookmarks folders. These are critical to my work with several non-profit organizations. All efforts to follow Mozilla's troubleshooting advice and use the Manage Bookmarks functions to restore or import backups in my Profiles folders are met with the "Unable to process the backup file." message. I have a number of backups available, any of which could potentially resolve this issue, but nothing I have tried is working. Please help! Thanks, Shack

when i restarted firefox as requested, bookmarks displayed across top of screen were gone. the suggested fix was no help. Said cause was a FF file was in use. It implies i have Win10. I have Win11. **************

I updated Firefox for my laptop this afternoon and another Firefox window opened and I had 2 windows. I closed the original window. I tried to restore my tabs and bookmarks in the new window. My Recently Closed Tabs and Recently Closed Windows are greyed out in the "hamburger"menu. I have tried everything; trying to restore from my profiles folder on my laptop, trying about:session and at this point I am Totally lost and frustrated. I am asking for help :-) please to have what I had before. Thank you

My old computer quit working. It had Windows 10 I purchased a new computer form Best Buy. They were unable to retrieve My bookmarks as I had left the 13 digit code to retrieve them. I am home now and have the code but do not know how to use it to retrieve the bookmarks. How do I proceed?

I just moved to a new Windows 11 PC from my Windows 10 PC. I backed up my Firefox profile and put it on a portable drive. I loaded Firefox on the new PC and then found the folder where the profiles are. I added the profile folder from the backup. Firefox has not found it and there is no way I've been able to discern to search for it.

I added the anti-virus after trying to set up Firefox.

Here are the particulars: Firefox version 146.0.1 (64-bit) Windows 11 Application Binary: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe Profile folder: C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxx.default-release

All of my bookmarks disappeared. I have followed all the step to restore from the profile folder and to restore manually. It works to a point, then I get an error message saying Firefox is unable to process the backup file (see attached image). I even tried it in Troubleshooting mode.

I use Firefox every day and have since the browser's very early days. I have a Firefox account, and am logged in when using it.

Typically, I have some pinned tabs (calendar, for instance) and also some tab groups (Container Tabs). There are usually a small number of open tabs. For example, this week, I have been googling spreadsheet formulas for a Google Sheet I am working on.

Occasionally, perhaps once every couple of months. when I open the browser, everything is gone. All the pinned tabs, tab groups, and the tabs I'd left open deliberately are not there. Just one tab (Google), is open.

I can re-open the container tabs and add them to the tab bar again, try and remember which tabs were pinned and redo those, but having to trawl through history to find the very detailed searches for spreadsheet formulas and work-rounds - is all very tedious and shouldn't be happening!

It has only been happening for at most a year, maybe seven or eight times in total, but those seven or eight times shouldn't happen.

I have searched for a way to restore it to how it was the last time I closed it, but cannot find any way to restore Firefox to how it had been.

I am using an a fairly new ASUS laptop (but it happened on my previous PC too), with Windows 11 installed and up-to-date. Firefox is always kept up-to-date too.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Hi Due to a corrupted profile following a Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade, I have had to get my laptop reset at a computer service business. They required copying everything off, clearing the hard drive and reinstalling everything. Mozilla Firefox was my default browser prior to this having to be done, however, Firefox was not reinstalled. I have just done that myself. Is it possible to recover the bookmarks I had previously saved to my old Firefox programme? Thank you in advance Gordon Carter

i'v change my browser many hears ago for things like good addons,extension n like this reasons.. (sorryfor my poor english but i hope tht will be understandable.) but between some of them,more important was that opera 2times or maybe more ithink when outo update.or maybe 1time for i closed accidentally my tabs and all goen and hadnt any way for...

mozilla was good but idonno why this time all goen just by one click after i opened and clicked on download.or update button,that topright of screen pops EVERYTIME.wue!well,idk wht but w.o any clicks..miss clicks or whtevr,all tabs are remains but with out adressz or able to open.just nothing happening,like empty,umm,blank tabs.

i have all ma tabs bookmarks cuz it was important to me.bu idk how to open back all of them.ther are many and iv see many tabs in my history,but i wants last opened of a site,not all times i openes and many duplicates,not last time and not a click for all..

A couple of updates ago, I received the message that some of my bookmarks will not be available. So I ran through the trouble shooting FAQs and I ran into a problem. When I go into Manage Bookmarks and it brings up my now empty library, when I select Import/Backup then Restore, it will not show me any files to restore from. Additionally, I used Fx File Utilities and it show the corrupt entry that I cannot remove, but allows me to export the json file to an html file so I can import it, but once again, when I select Import from HTML, it shows me no available files to restore from. Lastly, I imported the html file in to Chrome and then tried the option to import from another browser, but again, it will not allow me to select anything.

I have confirmed the integrity of the db as instructed, etc. So I have run out of options. How can I get my 15+ years of bookmarks back?

No bookmarks, says in use by another application. Tried all troubleshooting ideas Can't change name or delete places or favicons - again says in use by another application. Disabled all add-on security.

Following downloading update version 146, I have been unable to open Firefox, all that happens is that a box appears stating (see images): firefox.exe - Bad image, then C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\xul.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000000d.

After clicking OK on that box another one pops up stating:

Couldn't load XPCOM.

I have tried doing a Windows system restore, to try to take it back before it downloaded version 146, but this hasn't worked.

I've looked online and followed the advice there to download Firefox from your website, but that failed, just generating the XPCOM error.

My MAIN CONCERN at this point is that I do not want to lose all the bookmarks I had saved on my Firefox! I can't see any file within those in the Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder, so is there any other way to save\recover them?

I don't have any original "installation media" so as far as I can remeber Firefox was pre-installed on my PC?

I have a Samsung PC running Windows 10. There are two Mozilla Firefox folder under my C:\:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox and C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox, under this folder the version is 146.0.0.383, but under the other folder it's version 145.0.2.579?

Please advise as to how to save my bookmarks and rectify this error.
