Search engine defaults to Google every time I start the app ... how to default to DuckDuckGo?

I go in and set the Search engine to DuckDuckGo but it defaults back to Google every time I start the app again. Firefox 128.6.0esr macOS 14.7.2.

Will return to my previous browser if FF doesn't allow my choice of Search engine.
