Are you using a pop or imap version? do you use the version on your internet streams? And not an app?

Delete your just arrived mail and also the outdated mail in your folder and send them to your own inbox. It could be that one of them has gotten stuck?

Then go to your spam folder and click on empty your spam folder. This method did not help, okay. Could you perhaps go to your antivirus program and disable it? You will probably see that downloading your email will simply runs normally again. Is this likely to be the case? Let us see if this is reality?

Anti virus programms are not always working properly with Thunderbird versions that are to download from the Thunderbird sites .
