to the right of the 'quick filter' button above the message list pane is a small icon. Click that and change from 'card view' to table view'

Ok, click view>layout>message list header first. that should display that header. THEN, click the icon to right of 'quick filter'

Ok, something's not right and that is over my head. My thought would be to do a reinstall in hopes of fixing that, but others might have better ideas. Should you desire to reinstall, I suggest doing a backup of profile first, although a reinstall should leave it alone. But I like being safe.
