Thunderbird does not use my password file

On my Win7-64 system Thunderbird does not seem to read my password file. Most email accounts display a pop-up asking for my password. When I input the password and click on "Save the fool thing into my password file" it doesn't.

On my Win10-64 system this does not happen.

If possible, I do not want to migrate to Win10. It's not really a good system.

Well after intensive investigation, i.e., I lucked out, I found the issue(s). I just changed web host providers and created email accounts in the same name as the original. I thought (something I recommend but seldom follow) that keeping the name the same, migrating the domain and keeping the mail address the same would yield a seamless transfer. Sigh. So I deleted the 'old' accounts and created 'new' accounts with the same name. Seems to work.

'Menu icon ' > 'Options' > 'Security' > 'Paswords' tab click on 'Saved Passwords' do you see any mail accounts listed ? If yes: click on 'Show Passwords' Do you see any saved passwords?

Thanks for the response. This is not the issue. MY Tools->Options->Security->Password-Show Password file shows all my passwords and this is where I go to get passwords. Most times they do not work. Sometimes they do.

As another bug, when Thunderbird is deleted and restarted, if the Password file has not been removed, no messages are retrieved.
