At bottom left of page in Thunderbird I continually get a message "Downloading (e.g) 4 of 6 in inbox"

This appears ALL the time even though all mails are already downloaded.

Downloading of new messages in inbox is also often very, very slow. Please help.

Please start *Windows'* safe mode with networking enabled - win7 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17419/windows-7-advanced-startup-options-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7

Still In Windows safe mode, start thunderbird in safe mode - https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird
