Not exactly sure when this broke, if I go to print preview a mail message that arrived recently, all i get is over 90 pages of a graphics character, with none of the mail in those pages. This is a new issue, it's not been a problem before. The Item I'm trying to print is text only, there's no graphics embedded, or anything that I can see that could upset the processor that's preparing the printout.

anyone got any ideas what to look for

Does the issue occur in Thunderbird’s Safe Mode? Any issue starting after an update could be caused by an add-on that is no longer compatible with or not yet updated for the new Thunderbird version.

Moreover, you might be suffering an issue that could be resolved as reported in this question. To summarize: in the Config Editor, find the 2 preferences containing print_paper_ for height and width and set their values to -1 for the actual printer.

If that doesn’t help, try resetting all bold printer preferences you can find in the Config Editor (just enter print.print* in the Search field) by right-clicking them and choosing Reset, and restart Thunderbird.

Setting height and width to -1 seems to have overcome the issue, I now get one page correctly rather than 97 pages with one or 2 characters on each line,

Thanks
